The President:
a) is responsible for the running of the Association;
b) or his/her delegate should chair the Council meetings and see that
the regulations are observed;
c) or his/her delegate is an ex-officio Member in all committees within
the Association;
d) or his/her delegate should sign the minutes of the meetings
of the Association;
e) he/she is to ensure that the Statute is to be followed;
f) has, together with the Secretary, the Legal and Judicial representation
of the Council;
g) shall represent the Association whenever necessary.
The Vice President assists the President, replaces him/her in his absence
and/or holds office till a new President is elected, if the post is vacant.
He is also responsible for:
a) assisting the President whenever it is deemed necessary;
b) co-ordinating the Council's relations with other organisations.
The Secretary is responsible for:
a) the documents and the correspondence of the Association.
b) to prepare annual reports of the progress and the work done by the
Association.
c) for the co-ordination of the activities of all Officials and organs
within the Association
d) to send the Council Members an agenda of the meetings. The
agenda should reach all Members at least three days before the meeting.
The agenda should be prepared by both the President and the Secretary.
e) is an ex-officio Member on all committees within the Association.
f) has, together with the President, the Legal and Judicial representation
of the Council.
g) for keeping the minutes of the meetings of the Council
and to sign the minutes of the meetings together with the chairperson
The Assistant/International Secretary, apart from helping the Secretary
in his/her duties, substitutes him/her during his/her absence or if the
post is vacant until a new secretary is elected. He/She is also responsible
for the international relations of the Council;
The Treasurer:
a) keeps the accounts of the Association;
b) is responsible of all the income and expenditure of the Association;
c) presents financial reports to the Council of the Association whenever
he/she is asked to do so by the President. These reports should be
done at least every three months;
d) prepares a yearly financial report to be presented to the approval
of the General Assembly. The financial report is to include any donations
made to the Association;
e) keeps an up to date membership list;
f) collects the membership fees;
g) together with the President or his/her delegate, has the authority
for the withdrawal of any money from the current or savings accounts.
As regards to fixed accounts the authority has to be given by the Council;
h) all expenses that exceed L.M.20 have to be approved by the
Council whilst those exceeding L.M. 1000 have to be approved by the General
Assembly. Every financial report has to be signed by the auditors
as elected in the General Meeting. The Treasurer cannot keep in hand
more than L.M. 50 in petty cash at a given moment in time.
It is only after authorisation from the Treasurer that people can collect
money or other donations in the name of the Association
The Educational Officer is responsible for:
a) the publication of educational material;
b) the organisation of discussions and Fora;
c) the gathering of educational and research material needed for the
running of the Association.
The Public Relations Officer is responsible for:
a) the Council's Public Relations. It is his/her duty to
release press Statements and Notices as decided by the Council;
b) ensuring that the MAGG is a source of information in the fields
of Gerontology and Geriatrics.
