Society is organising an Ethnic Meal on the 5th of May. This is the organisations'
main and annual event and is a celebration of various cultures from all
continents through meeting people from other cultures, tasting their delicious

The Moving Anthropology
Students Network Poland Conference, the thrid conference of this internatoinal
student organisation has just ended with success. The main topics covered
were ethnogaphy, multiculturalism and the anthropology of performance.

30/06/2006 - Malta Anthro Students in Croatia In the beginning of this past April, three Maltese Anthropology students travelled to Zagreb, Croatia to attend some meetings organised by MASN (Moving Anthropology Students Network), a growing European network of anthropology students. Click here for more 27/06/2006 - BiosAT 2006 An international summer school on statistical inference in biology and human sciences is being organised by several esteemed universities. The school will be held between the 27th of June and the 7th of July in Asti, Italy. Click here for more information. 15/03/2006 - World Music Party The Party organised at Lemon 'n' Lime Bar in Marsascala was another opportunity for the Malta Anthropology Society members to meet up and enjoy some great music together and dance the night away. Click here to view more pics 20/03/2006 - Work in Progress Seminar The Mediterranean Insititue's Work in Progress Seminars will restart this Wednesday 22nd March with Francois Zammit, ex-president of the MAS, argueing his interpretation of how the French philosopher, Georges Bataille, analysed the ritual of the potlach beyond the domain of reciprocity and power game. 12/03/2006 - More articles and reviews... The articles page has been updated with some articles from MaltaToday, a Maltese weekly newspaper. Moreover another book review has been added to the books page. 05/03/2006 - Ghana Event The MAS together with some of its members met up at 'Kadenzi' in Qormi to listen to some of the finest 'ghannejja' here in Malta showcasing their talents. The event was an opportunity for all present to understand better and appreciate one of Malta's more important traditions. 15/02/2006 - Ethnographic Film Night Steve Vella's ethnographic film, 'In our Blood', was shown at Labyrinth Valletta at February 15th. A good mix of mainly anthropology students (both local and foreign) and lecturers attended the event which managed to bring out clearly the main themes of Mr. Vella's film. The showing of the film was following by a disccussion ... click for more info 09/01/2006 - Website Officially Launched The Malta Anthropology Society Website has finally been officially launched on the 9th of January, 2006. Visit the site regularly to keep up to date on what is happening in the Anthropology Arena both here in Malta and abroad.The site will also regularly publish a host of articles written by both lecturers and students, among these there will be reviews on anthropology books. 23/12/2005 - Ethnic Night a Success The Ethnic Night organised on Firday 23rd December was a tremendous success. In access of 400 people braved the cold night to find a host of typical tasty African cuisine and a host of entertainers, mostly refugees who impressed the public with their traditional dances and music. ..... click for more 12/12/2005 - Integra 'Peace Walk: Together against Hatred and Discrimination' The society's committee and members took part in the ' Peace Walk: Together Against Hatred and Discriminaton' organised by Integra Foundation in Floriana. 16/11/2005 - Re-Launch Party Success A re-launching party was organised by the 'Malta Anthropology Society' at Labyrinth, Valletta. The event was a success with over a hundred people present and a great atmosphere was produced. For pictures of the event click here. 26/10/2005 - New Committee!!! During a meeting held at Prof. Clough's office, a new committee was formed to give the Society a new lease of life. This was deemed very important as lately the society had fallen into an inactive state. The committee is made up of 9 members: Nighat Urpani, Jeannine Vassallo, Jeffrey Romano, Liz Tratnik, Marie Claire Tonna, Rachel Scicluna, Wilma Plaehn, Leanne Borg and Jana Tsoneva. |
